When I load the Alexa skill, then ask for nearest lightning, I get an error that Alexa is having issues with the skill. I tried re-linking my account. That didn't work either.

Ryan Hickman Official comment Nathan,
Thanks for bringing the nearest lightning strike issue to our attention. It appears our server-side implementation of the lighting API for Alexa was inadvertently changed. I've made the necessary corrections and this skill should now work as intended.
We will not be adding the notifications because they seem pretty pointless considering you have to ask Alexa what your notifications are. I'd recommend using Amazon/Alexa's built-in severe weather skill with "Alexa, tell me when there's a severe weather alert," because it can get around this limitation unlike 3rd party skills which aren't allowed to "speak unless spoken to."

Nathan Parker Side question: Has this been enabled on the Alexa skill yet? This would be fun: https://youtu.be/glcK8yvN-w0

Nathan Parker Nearest lightning strike is working perfectly now. Thanks for resolving that! That's been super handy.
Thanks for the update on the notifications, and since originally posting this, Amazon did message me about their new severe weather alert skill. I enabled it, and so far, working good. It is true the limitation with third-party skills where you have to ask for notifications limits what you can do.
