Pick your own color for watches & warnings by county

I wish we could choose our colors or let the colors chosen in the outline placefile be used for the county filled placefile.

I prefer the Outline placefile but it will not "Update" if a watch box is extended in size. This happens often (twice in the last week)..
A Severe Thunderstorm or Tornado Watch is issued and later on they extend the coverage area of the same watch number to include more counties. The Watch box outlines will not update. The county filled will, but I don't like the color schemes it is limited to. I prefer RED for Tornado and Yellow for Thunderstorm.

  or better yet, cyan (light blue) for severe thunderstorm watches and red for tornado watches would be ideal.

  I know that Jeff Lake from MichiganWxSystem has incorperated his feeds into Allisonhouse and perhaps this is still a work in progress. I Watches/Advisory Options. But one of my favorite options was the ability to edit the color of them. And that is absent in current form. Personally I prefer a Blue Severe Thunderstorm WATCH, and Red Tornado WATCH, and on PDS Severe Thunderstorm Watches I like Yellow, and PDS Tornado WATCH I have a much deeper Red color close to brown. Customize colors would make an already awesome feature even better. Thanks for everything!

  Is there a way to highlight an area like GR:Earth Svr/Tor Watch boxes and have the outer edge of the WATCH/Advisory display the information instead of every single county involved. Just curious if that is possible.

  Yes, the county 'Union' watch product which is identical to GRe, will be available for the rest of the GR family once full integration has taken place...

    Also plan the system like is in place for the MichiganWxSystem all watch/warn feed, allowing you to choose which to display and what color

  Has there been any movement on this? It would be most helpfull now that Jeff's old files have been taken down. This was one of the things I liked most with the old system. It's vitally important for the work I do, as our established color scheme does not follow that of the NWS.

  Even if just implemented for SVR/TOR/FFW as a separate placefile, that would be most helpful!

  Your customization page (https://www.allisonhouse.com/customer/watchwarn/configure/GR) for Watches & Warnings by County now features several new customization options.

  1) "Use AllisonHouse colors instead." maintains the same color scheme everyone has been using for years. This option is enabled by default as to not impact the placefile that others know and love.

  2) Uncheck "Use AllisonHouse colors instead." but leave the colors that are set by default alone. These are the NWS colors according to http://www.nws.noaa.gov/wwamap-prd/faq.php. Some phenomenons do not exist on the NWS website and were left blank. I will replace these blank defaults with the AllisonHouse colors once I can confirm that the NWS does not have any colors defined.

  3) Uncheck "Use AllisonHouse colors instead." and modify the colors as you please.

  This update will undergo a 48 hour beta phase before it is implemented for everyone. This is to ensure that we do not impact normal placefile operations. We value your feedback during this beta phase. Any suggestions or bug reports should be added as a comment to this Feature Request. Keep reading below for instructions on taking part in the beta.

  If your current Watches & Warnings by County placefile URL is http://feeds.allisonhouse.com/asdf1234/watchwarn.places, add a new placefile with the URL http://feeds.dev01.allisonhouse.com/asdf1234/watchwarn.places to take part in the beta. This new URL recognizes the new color customization options that were added.

  Additional time was invested today to bring this placefile (and StormLab overlay) up to date with Fire Zones. In the Western U.S., the NWS issues Red Flag and other warnings out against a "Fire Zone" instead of a county. Before today's update, our placefile did not support these fire zones. It now does.
